About Me

Thanks for checking out my blog and learning more about me. I am in my mid 30's currently reside in St.Louis, MO. I am an IT Pro who just so happens to be an avid craft beer enthusiast.

I have been fortunate to call St.Louis home for my entire life, and I share a passion for helping others not only learn about how great the city is but also how awesome our beer scene is too.

I got started sharing personal experiences on Yelp over eight years ago and joined Twitter/Instagram four years ago, allowing myself to branch out to other platforms. I hope this site can be a further extension allowing me to share more personal and detailed experiences with others.

As far as beer goes, I have a reasonably diverse palate, and will typically give any style of beer a drink, although I tend to focus more on IPAs than anything. Over the last 3-4 years, I have been able to travel to over 200+ breweries and visit numerous beer festivals across the united states. Most recently, I attended the 2019 Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO; it was an absolute blast.

I typically will work to share some of my thoughts, experiences, and travels on this site. While I will mostly post about beer or beer-related topics, I won't limit myself just to that; I will likely cover other things I am passionate about. Some other issues might include, but are not limited to, Technology, St.Louis, Travel, and food.

Thanks,
Brian

2019: Beer in Review

2019 was quite a year, I visited my first brewery outside of the United States during a trip to Mexico, visited the Great American Beer Festival, and visited my milestone 200th brewery. Over the year, I was able to visit 55 new breweries and sampled over 848 unique beers from 287 different breweries. The Great American Beer Festival in Denver, along with several beer festivals in my hometown of St.Louis helped me sample so many different styles of beers. Despite the massive variety, my most common beer style of the year was likely a toss-up between the many IPA varieties and Saisons, however towards the end of the year, I started to venture more into stouts, which is something I usually have stayed away from. St. Louis, MO (Metro Area) St. Louis is my hometown, so I would make an effort to visit every brewery within the region. I think as of this year I have visited most, but there is always something new opening. St.Louis is easily one of the best beer scenes in the country. ...

2nd Shift Cask Festival - 2020

2nd Shift Cask Festival - 2020 January 19th, 2020 2nd Shift Brewing Company Cask Festival With something going on nearly every weekend, it's hard for St. Louis beer-lovers to get bored during the winter months. For example, this past weekend, I attended my second beer festival of 2020, and it is likely one of my favorites.  On Sunday, 2nd Shift Brewing Company held its annual Cask Festival, which brings together a number of their closest friends and some fantastic small-batch beer. For those that are unfamiliar, Cask Festival is a smaller beer festival where 2nd Shift invites their friends to bring small cask just for the festival. During this event, you will likely find variations on existing beers brewed with unique new ingredients or a brand new beer brewed just for the festival; either way, you are in for some exceptional beer choices. One unique thing with this festival is that it allows each attendee a unique opportunity to pour their beer; while sampling...

Brewery Review: Hoof Hearted Brewery & Kitchen (Columbus, OH)

Hoof Hearted Brewery & Kitchen Columbus, OH My second brewery stop in Columbus was an obvious one, how could I resist visiting Hoof Hearted which had recently made their beers available in St.Louis. It was a no brainer to check out their taproom to enjoy some fresh, uniquely brewed beers. After a short Lyft ride from Land-Grant, we arrived at Hoof Hearted, again due to the time (Early afternoon 2-3pm) there taproom/restaurant wasn't overly packed, and that was a good thing as it still allowed us the opportunity to grab a seat at the bar and chat with the bartenders. Honestly, I am not sure where to start here, much like earlier, we went with two flights to try as much as possible, but it was nearly impossible to pick a favorite. However with that being said at the top of my list was "Don't Worry, My Mom Said It's Cool," which was an Imperial Birthday Cake Stout brewed with Astronaut Ice Cream, Cacao Nibs, & Vanilla; it was dessert in a glass (I even...
